Paintings

The funny thing is that I’ve never actually taken a painting class before. I graduated from Millsaps College in 2009 with a “Digital Art” degree, spending most of my time experimenting with video projection, cameras, and computers. Until, after my graduation, I moved from Jackson, Mississippi to Portland, Oregon, did I experience the needed liberation from the art academia to paint without hesitation. I finally painted for the sake of painting.

Now I am obsessed with creating paintings; specifically nonrepresentational paintings. Painting in the abstract is about the process of painting, not necessarily a final, well-planned object. Rarely do I have conscious intentions, but rather subconscious ramblings and momentary meditations on the colors and energies of space. Below are links to my work divisible by year. Please enjoy.
